Am I able to turn up at the hotel without having made a booking?
Yes, if there is availability then we can accommodate you. However, we would always recommend advance reservations to avoid disappointment.

Do you offer discounts for group bookings?
Yes we do offer group rates, please get in touch for further details.

How can I amend my booking?
Bookings made directly with us – please contact us to amend your booking. Changes are all subject to the terms and conditions of your reservation.

Bookings made on third party websites will have to be amended directly with the company that you booked with.

What is your cancellation policy?
Flexible bookings made directly with us can be cancelled FREE of charge up to 24 hours before your arrival date.
Pre-paid rates are non-refundable / transferable / cancellable
Bookings made with special offers may vary.
For bookings made on third party websites, please check their terms and conditions. All amendments and changes must be via the booking agent.
For bookings made with a corporate agent, all changes and amendments must be made with the agent directly.

How can I cancel my booking?
Bookings made directly with us – please contact us to amend your booking. Changes are all subject to the terms and conditions of your reservation.

Bookings made on third party websites will have to be amended directly with the company that you booked with.

Is breakfast included in the price of my room?
We offer room only or bed and breakfast rates when you book. If you make a reservation that does not include breakfast you can still arrange a table with reception on arrival.

Am I able to request an invoice for my stay?
Yes. Although if you booked through a third party website please contact them directly. We can always provide an invoice for any items such as meals, parking etc which have been paid to us directly.

What happens if I’m running late on the day of my arrival?
Our reception is open 24 hours so this is no problem if you’re running late. Your room will be ready from 2pm but you can always call us on 01722 323334 if you would like to advise us of your arrival time.

Is the price per person or per room?
Our prices are always per room.

Can I pay with cash?
A valid debit or credit card will be required to make a reservation. Cash can be used in other areas of the hotel, but we do prefer to have payment by debit or credit cards.

What credit cards do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, Amex and JCB.

Do you need to add a pre-auth to my debit/credit card?
We will only do a pre-authorisation of your credit card if you are looking to charge food and drinks back to your room account.

Can I book a room for day use?
Yes, we book rooms on a day let. Subject to availability.

Can I pay by cheque?
Unfortunately we are unable to accept cheques.

What is the minimum age I need to be to book a room?
You must be 18 years old to stay at The Red Lion Hotel. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Do I need to provide a debit or credit card to make a reservation?
Yes, a valid debit or credit card will be required to make a reservation.

Is there somewhere safe to store my luggage when I check out?
Yes, we have a luggage store room where you can leave luggage while you enjoy all of Salisbury’s attractions.

Do you have a 24 hour reception?
Yes

Do you offer express check-in/checkout?
Yes

What time is check-in / check-out?
Check-in is from 2pm and checkout is by 11am.

Do you offer an early check-in / late check-out?
We can arrange early check-in and late checkouts, subject to availability. Early check-in is £25, late checkout is £15 per hour.

Our Hotel

Is the hotel pet-friendly?
The Red Lion Hotel is not pet-friendly. Only guide dogs are allowed on the premises. However, all dogs are allowed in our courtyard.

Do you have WIFI throughout the hotel?
Yes, we provide free WIFI for all of our hotel guests.

Does the hotel have a lift?
The Red Lion Hotel doesn’t currently have a lift.

Do you provide daily newspapers?
Yes, for an additional charge.

What languages are spoken by the staff?
English, Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian and Bulgarian.

Are children welcome at the hotel?
Yes, we have family rooms available.

Can I start a tab for all my expenditure at the hotel, then pay off when I check out?

Parking

How many parking spaces do you have?
The Red Lion Hotel has six parking spaces which cost £15 per night. Advanced reservations are strongly recommended. Parking vouchers are available from reception for the public car park behind the hotel if required – £15 for 24 hours.

Do you provide secure (gated) parking?
Yes, our car park has a gate which is code operated.

Do you provide electric vehicle charging stations?
Yes, we have two EV charging spaces. There is a charge of £15 per night, per space. Advanced reservations are required as spaces are limited.

Do you have disabled parking?
There is a disabled parking space available outside the hotel with a maximum stay of three hours. Culver Street and Brown Street car parks both offer FREE parking for blue badge holders and are both within a three minute walk of The Red Lion Hotel.

Do you have high chairs in the restaurant?
Yes

What kind of breakfast is served?
Breakfast options include full English, vegetarian, gluten-free, vegan and continental.

Is the restaurant open to non-hotel guests?
Yes, everyone is welcome, whether you’re a hotel guest or local resident.

What time is breakfast/lunch/dinner served?
Breakfast – served daily from 7am to 10am
Lunch – served daily from 12pm to 3pm
Dinner – served Mon-Sat from 5pm to 9pm

Do I have to book a table or can I just turn up?
Booking is essential.

Is the restaurant available to hire for private parties?
Yes, you can hire our restaurant or other function rooms, take a look at our party venue page for more details.

Bedrooms

Are you allowed to smoke in the bedrooms?
All communal areas and bedrooms within The Red Lion Hotel are non-smoking. This includes vaping and e-cigarettes.

Can I invite guests to my room?
Yes, but they will not be allowed to stay overnight in your room unless registered.

Do you offer a laundry service?
Yes, additional charge.

Do your rooms have kettles/hair dryers/irons/a trouser press?
All of our bedrooms have kettles, tea & coffee facilities, hairdryer, iron & ironing boards.

We don’t have any trouser presses.

Do your rooms have fridges?
None of our bedrooms have a fridge.

Do you have mini-bars in the rooms?
No, but we do offer 24 hour room service for drinks.

Do the rooms have a safe?
No, but we can store small valuables in the hotel safe.

Do you provide a housekeeping service?
Yes

Do the bedrooms have air conditioning?
The Seamstress Suite has air conditioning. All other bedrooms have fans.

Is room service available?
We offer 24 hour room service. Charges apply.

Are cots available for babies/small children?
Yes, we can provide cots and cot sheets.

Can we request an extra bed in our room for a child?
Family rooms are available. Most of our Superior rooms will accommodate an extra bed or cot. Charges apply.

Do the rooms have double beds or single beds pushed together?
Our Classic double rooms are mainly a five foot bed, our Superior rooms have zip and link beds so they can be made as double or twin beds as required.

What are the maximum number of guests allowed in each room type?
We have rooms that will accommodate one or two adults.

Family rooms are for two adults + one child or two adults + two children.

Do all rooms have en-suite bathrooms?
Yes

Can I request rooms next to each other?
Yes, you can request this in advance and we’ll always try to accommodate this.

Do you have family rooms available?
We have one family room that will accommodate two adults + two children. We have other rooms that will accommodate two adults + one child, or two small children sharing a sofa bed.

Do you have any inter-connecting bedrooms?
No

Do all rooms have a shower/bath?
All our rooms are different. We have some rooms with a walk-in shower only, some rooms with a shower over the bath, some rooms with a bath and separate shower. If you have specific requirements, please get in touch with us before your stay.

Do you have any single rooms?
We have three single rooms with single beds in different locations of the building. All of our single rooms have a shower.

Are all your rooms the same?
We’re pleased that we can offer lots of variety at The Red Lion Hotel! All of our bedrooms are very different as we are an 800 year old building.

We have rooms on the first and second floor accessed by stairs. Some rooms have showers only, some have a shower over the bath. We have some Executive rooms and Suites that have a bath and separate shower.

Some rooms are modern and others more historic and quirky to match the hotel. Some rooms have ancient beams, feature fireplaces or carved wooden beds.

If you have a preference or favourite room, please get in touch to discuss this with us when you reserve your room.

Will I get the room that is shown on the website?
If you have a specific request for a room, please get in touch to discuss this with the reception team at the time of reservation. We have 60 bedrooms and they are all different. Our website shows a range of our rooms but not all of them.

As you are an 800 year old hotel, are all the rooms older style?
All our rooms are different. Some guests prefer the quirky historic rooms, others the more modern style. Please get in touch to discuss this with reception when you make your room reservation.

Can I arrange flowers for my stay?
Yes you can. We would recommend that you arrange your flowers directly with our local florists and they can deliver them to the hotel.

Can I arrange chocolates, wine or champagne in my room on arrival?
Yes you can. Please get in touch with our reception team and they can discuss all the options with you.

Accessibility

Do you have accessible bedrooms?
Yes, we have one accessible bedroom on the ground floor which includes a walk-in shower. Unfortunately, due to the age of the building it’s not possible to get a wheelchair with somebody in it into the room. So this is suited to someone who is able to walk a few steps.

Do you have disabled parking?
There is a disabled parking space available outside the hotel with a maximum stay of three hours. Culver Street and Brown Street car parks both offer FREE parking for blue badge holders and are both within a three minute walk of The Red Lion Hotel.

Is your hotel wheelchair-friendly?
Most areas of the hotel are wheelchair friendly, but due to the age of the building some areas offer limited access.

Airport Transfers

Can I arrange airport transfers at the hotel?
We can arrange transfer to and from the hotel. Payment is made directly to the taxi company.

What is the closest airport to the hotel?
Bournemouth or Southampton airports.

Can I print out a boarding pass at the hotel?
Yes, our reception can print this out for you.

Public transport / taxis

Can I arrange a taxi with the reception team?
Yes, this is no problem.

Can I get a bus to Stonehenge?
The Stonehenge tour bus leaves Salisbury just a few metres from The Red Lion Hotel.
