Do we have to pay any room hire for our wedding?
Our Silver wedding package includes wedding breakfast and reception room hire, but not ceremony room hire. Our Gold and Diamond wedding packages include all rooms.
Do you allow outside caterers?
The Red Lion Hotel Salisbury will only allow catering provided by its own chef and cannot allow any outside catering either from professional caterers or family members.
Can we bring our own wine and champagne to the wedding breakfast or reception?
No.
What time does the wedding reception have to finish?
All wedding parties finish at 12am latest. However, any wedding guests staying in the hotel will be able to purchase drinks from our bar after this time.
Can we provide our own entertainment?
Yes, you are welcome to organise your own entertainment.
Can wedding parties be on different board basis?
Wedding guests can stay over on a bed & breakfast or room-only basis.
Can we bring our own recorded music? if yes, which devices can be used?
Yes, we can play music from most mobile phones. Please speak to us in advance so that we can check and confirm.
When do you need to know final wedding guest numbers?
Please confirm this with us at least one month before your wedding day.
When do we need to pay?
A deposit of £750 needs to be paid no more than 14 days after setting the provisional date. Six months prior to the wedding day we will require 50% of your total price. Final balance payable four weeks prior to the wedding date.
Are dogs or other pets allowed to be part of my wedding?
Unfortunately we only allow guide dogs in our hotel.
What days can I get married at the hotel?
You can hold your wedding at The Red Lion Hotel Salisbury on any day of the week.
How many people can you sit in the wedding ceremony?
Our wedding ceremonies can accommodate up to 70 guests.
What time can you have the marriage ceremony?
Your wedding ceremony can take place between 10am and 4pm. This is the time that the registrars will conduct ceremonies.
I want to supply my own chair covers and table decorations, is this possible?
Yes
Am I allowed to bring in additional services such as sweet cart, photo booth, casino tables for the evening etc?
Yes
Can my photographer visit the venue prior to the wedding day?
Yes, this is a great idea so that they can become familiar with the hotel if they’ve not photographed here before. Please ask them to contact us in advance so that we can give them the time and attention they need for their visit.
Are there any discounts for my guests staying at the hotel?
Yes, we offer a preferential B&B room rate for all your wedding guests. Please speak to us about this for more details.
When can my guests book their accommodation?
As early as you wish them to, there is no time frame for this. The earlier the better due to availability, unless you pre-book rooms on an allocation basis.
Can we hire out the whole hotel exclusively?
We would consider this for bespoke weddings, but the cost for you may not be feasible. If your wedding is in the Marlborough Room you’ll be away from the main part of the hotel anyway giving you the feeling of exclusivity.
Is there plenty of parking for my guests?
We have limited parking spaces in our hotel but there are two public car parks within a few minutes’ walk. Find out more about parking at our hotel. There’s also great public transport links as we’re right in the centre of Salisbury.
Does the venue allow confetti to be thrown?
Yes, biodegradable confetti can be used.
Are lit candles allowed in the venue?
Unfortunately we don’t allow lit candles to be used at weddings within the hotel.
Do you have access for disabled guests?
Yes
Can we set up the day before?
We always try to accommodate this request and usually you’ll be able to have access to the room late afternoon on the day before your wedding. If you need to set up earlier, we can discuss a small hire fee for you to keep the room vacant for the whole day.
